Testing lab for intelligent power grids – SESA Lab
Clever green energy management
In a virtual laboratory, industry and research are testing intelligent electricity works of the future
What is the best way to integrate green energy from wind parks, biomass power plants, and solar installations into existing power grids? How can overloads be avoided? To manage regenerative energy, intelligent networks are needed, so-called smart grids. In the SESA lab of the Oldenburg informatics institute OFFIS, research and industry partners can test individual smart grid components – for example control and feedback systems – in a virtual system under realistic conditions. An important step towards expanding intelligent power grids as quickly as possible and accelerating the energy turnaround.
