Non-transparent and static fare systems make buying tickets for public transport a time-consuming and often complex task. Mobility data is essential to be able to provide needs-based offers based on actual customer needs. MotionTag offers a smartphone-based ticketing system for this purpose, which works as a „virtual ticket“ without additional infrastructure. Machine-learning with the help of smartphone sensors makes it possible to efficiently and automatically identify and localise ten different means of transport with the corresponding indicators (distance and duration). This eliminates the need to use different apps, understand complicated tariff zones, and wait and search for change at ticket machines. The platform is designed so that public transport and other mobility services can be easily integrated. By integrating APIs (programming interfaces) and other data sources, MotionTag offers a fully software-based ticketing technology that functions as a check-in/be-out (CIBO) solution. A daily/monthly cap allows for setting personal cost controls.
