Three million Germans suffer from tinnitus. Ringing in the ears occurs when overactive nerve cells in the auditory centre in the brain delude people into thinking they hear these disturbing noises. The company Sonormed has developed a technology that thwarts these cells. Tinnitracks filters music out of the tinnitus frequency, which the patient has to enter online beforehand, as well as his or her favourite songs, which Sonormed sends back to them after the sound processing. Then everything is easy. By listening to the songs one or two hours a day, they can effectively treat their tinnitus, without hearing aids, on-site therapy, or complicated software.
