Villages are caught in a vicious circle: more and more people are moving away because there are no schools, shopping facilities, or doctors. And the fewer inhabitants a place has, the poorer its infrastructure. The ‘Villages on the Move’ initiative shows how this cycle can be broken. It pools real-life examples from all over Germany on an online platform. How can citizens install their own broadband network? How to set up a village shop? The initiative supports people who want to jointly shape the future of their village – whether with good ideas or an online course that empowers them to effectively help their village.
