A virtual laboratory shows how e-learning can make technical courses of study more flexible
How do you measure a building's airtightness? How long can a given material withstand a fire? Something that so far budding architects and civil engineers have only been able to test in rooms at their universities now functions online. At the virtual lab of the Chair for Building Physics at the University of Stuttgart, students can pursue their passion to invent and experiment anywhere at any time without having to apply for an internship. What has long been standard practice in many humanities subjects also makes scientific and technical courses of study more flexible.
