A ballet performance in the company canteen or a concert at the weekly market – the Sorb National Ensemble from Bautzen is breaking new ground and arousing citizens’ enthusiasm for its folkloristic stage art. A project called “Vodyanoy – the Water Spirit: Sorbian Culture Is on the Rise” is turning the city into a stage and bringing Sorbian culture to mainstream society. The artists are convinced that those who like the modern and contemporary interpretations of the traditional music and the dances of the national minority will buy an admission ticket for the regular program in the ensemble’s main venue.
